The Town of High River should be ready for summer now that the spring cleaning is done.

Over 150 volunteers took to the town to help spiff it up.

It was part of High River's 13th Annual Community Green Sweep and Electronic Recycling Roundup.

Parks Supervisor Tannis Webb says there's always lots of community support for the event.

"We've had a great turnout," said Webb. "There's three roll-off bins up at the fire hall that will be filled as well as a electronic drop off that will be filled by the end of day."

She added lots of people are proud of the community and they want to make sure the town looks good.

"Lot's of pride, lots of people want to make sure the community looks fantastic."

The Girl Guides were cleaning up the shores on the Little Bow and Love High River ministerial group lent a hand as well.

"It gets bigger each year," she said.

Also this year a small but determined group of volunteers took on a cleaning project most people wouldn't want to touch.

Paula Hamilton rounded up some friends to help tackle the banks of the Highwood River in the north section of Wallaceville that is still full of debris from the 2013 flood.

She just wants to make the area safe for people to bike and hike in.

"It is such a beautiful area I just think that lots of people can be getting out and about into nature and enjoying it, but we need to get all this garbage out of here."

She's excited the group made a start, and hopes others will come out and help complete it.

"This is not going to be it we are going to have to do more work."
