Most High River residents will be keeping a close eye on the mountains to the west over the next few weeks looking at all the white stuff up there still.

High River's Director of Emergency Management, Carly Benson, says don't sweat it.

"The snowpack is slightly elevated for this time of year. But as we know, the level of the snowpack, particularly in April, has no correlation with flood risks."

She says they'll keep a closer eye on the snowpack later this month and into June.

But for right now, according to historical trends, it doesn't relate to any high water events.

She says it'll only become a factor if we get large amounts of rain.

As a precaution, the Town has been replacing sandbags where needed, and has put out pumps along 12th Avenue where there are no berms in place to protect the town.
