The Town of High River is ready for winter, at least as far as snow removal goes.

Operations Manager Eugene Lund says 12th Avenue west of the traffic circle could pose a challenge, thanks to all the sandbags.

"It will be a bit more challenging, there will be likely those times when we get heavier snowfalls where we'll have to close down 12th Avenue periodically to do some snow removal with skid steers and dump trucks and that sort of thing. They will be only temporary closures."

Lund says the snow removal budget is $150,000, but that's been bumped up by reserves thanks to a lack of snow the last couple of years.
