The concession stand at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex will no longer be run by the Town.

Director of Community Services Lisa Reinders says they're stepping back to see what can be done because it's been operating at a significant deficit.

"What this does mean is that we know concession services are really important to the community so we are looking at new models to provide that same service, and the new model might include inviting food trucks to attend events or leasing the space out or increasing the vending machines. " Reinders says.

She says they hope closing it and looking at other options will provide an opportunity to be for financially sustainable.

The have looked at other steps to keep it running.

"We did look at improving pricing and hours of operation and expenditures in an effort to increase revenues, but each of those changes didn't make a significant change and I think we're always looking for ways to streamline operations and find efficiencies and really it is being a steward to the taxpayers investment in our community," she says.

The concession will close after the hockey season April 2, 2017.
