High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass is letting the provincial government know that enough is enough.

Council voted to send a letter to two ministers and the Premier to tell them it is time to turn back homes on Riverside Drive and Highview Park, that were purchased through the Southern Alberta Floodway Response Program, to private ownership.

Snodgrass says the Province keeps saying they are waiting for the floodway maps.

"So we follow up with the floodway maps and yes all the data has been collected and the maps are produced," said Snodgrass. "But the policy is stuck with their reluctance to make a decision on what that policy says."

He adds it is going to be a difficult decision to make.

"At the end of the day a decision needs to be made so all of these communities know what the rules are and we can move forward from it."

Snodgrass says these homes need to come out of the Southern Alberta Floodway Response Program adding they were minimally impacted during the flood and with the new berms now in place they have a great deal of protection.

"They've got to come out of there so we can get them back into the hands of people who want them and can live and enjoy their lives in High River."
