Santa can always use some help with his deliveries and this year the Foothills Tower of Toys is doing just that.

Candisse McCormick is heading up the first ever Foothills Toy Tower by collecting toys and cash donations for the big guy in red.

"We are collecting new unwrapped toys for all ages for the Salvation Army Christmas hampers," said McCormick. "As well as monetary donations to help them meet the needs of their families that are in need this year."

As part of that they also have a pop-up gift wrapping station.

"People can bring their gifts from wherever, but we do encourage people to support local, and bring them to us and we will wrap them up all pretty."

They are accepting cash donations for the wrapping, but their suggested price is one gift for three dollars or three gifts for five dollars.

The money raised will be split between the Salvation Army and the Can Van.

One area they need donations for is for teenagers.

"They need things like toques and mitts for boys. And things like gift cards, ITune cards, even things like makeup and hair products."

Another good gift idea was for pyjamas for all the age groups.

"They want everything from baby toys and people don't realize things like baby shampoo and baby wipes are things the Salvation Army are always looking for."

Just this past week they also kicked off a business challenge where local businesses are challenging each other to make cash donations.

As well photographer Karyn Lee is doing Christmas pictures Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Foothills Toy Tower is open 11 a.m to 7 p.m Monday to Saturday in Emerson Mall.
