Athletes around town on Sunday July 29 swam, ran and biked across High River's industrial and Montrose communities in the Tri The Challenge Triathlon Challenge.

Director of the race, Maggie Bowen says, this year, her priority was to localize the event.

"In previous years this event was ran by a company in Edmonton, so this time I really wanted to shine the spotlight on High Riverites to show what an amazing community we are."

Bowen says, it's all going towards a good cause.

"All proceeds are going towards the Ride To Conquer Cancer, and I'm riding for the Tom Baker Cancer Centre's satellite office, directly here in High River."

The multi-sport event included swimming, biking and running in a duathlon, triathlon and a 5 kilometer run.

Over 40 athletes from across the town donated their sweat equity, to help the marathon meet its goals.
