The Town of Turner Valley made it official at their council meeting Monday night and voted "yes" to the plan from the Calgary Regional Partnership for a transit system here in the Foothills.

CRP Member and Turner Valley Councillor, Dona Fluter says it connects Turner Valley to the larger world.

"it provides us with the opportunity for us to be more connected to our neighbours. To move people around, young people that may be thinking about going to post secondary school will have an opportunity to have transit and not necessarily move away from home. It's bringing forward a new concept. A different way of getting around our region."

The two year pilot project will be paid for by the Province and will include Calgary, Black Diamond, Okotoks, High River and Nanton.

The first bus to pull out of the station will be September of 2016.

The town is holding an open house on the issue Monday, October 26 from 4-to-7 P.M. at the Sheep River Library.
