The Town of Turner Valley is very proud of how they're using water these days.

Since 2012 they've reduced their water usage by 50,000 cubic metres, while increasing their water recovery by almost 30 per cent, from 55 per cent in 2012 to 84 per cent in 2016.

Mayor Kelly Tuck says a big thanks has to go to residents.

"They're just being really cautious of how they're using their water, when they're using their water. And a lot of our residents have gotten to be able to capture the rain we receive as well, which is huge for our area."

She says upgrades to their water treatment and sewage systems are paying dividends when it comes to water savings as well.
