Friday is Farmers Day across the country and an opportunity to celebrate local Farmers.

High River UFA Site Operations Manager Tarah-Lee Cotie says they have a great day planned.

"We're bringing some things out that they'd like to see like some antique tractors from our local museum some antique cars, we're going to have our MLA on site. We're going to have a Bar-B-Que and then one of our outside Ag specialists for cattle is going to be here from one of the largest ranches in Mexico and he's going to make some authentic tacos."

She says that Farmers Day never became a provincial holiday but it's still celebrated as a way to say thank you to farmers.

"We've got huge draws in-store and company wide. Lots of our vendors have been a big support to us so Meridian will be on site, Kane Vet will be on site to explain some of their products. It's going to be a good day for information for our farmers. We're going to feed them up and then give them 25% off everything in-store and 15% off our yard products."

She says farmers day started as a UFA initiative back in 1911 and while it never made it to provincial holiday status they still take the time to celebrate the farmer.

"It's going to be a good day if they have projects they want to get after then today would be the day to come in and get a deal at your local UFA and it's our way to say thank you."
