A busy day at local McDonald's for United Way Day.

Shelly Koot, the Town of High River's Manager of Community Support Services says what they raise here, stays here.

"We get some money from the big campaign in Calgary, but we also do local fundraising. And last year we were able to contribute $75,000 dollars. Every penny of that went right here into the community into our local agencies and social profit organizations here in Town."

Money brought in funds local charities like Snaps, the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society and Literacy for Life among others.

A portion of the sales from Egg McMuffins, Big Mac's, Happy Meals and McChicken's goes to the United Way.

They also have merchandise for sale, and as Koot says they're also happy to take cash donations.
