Anyone driving by the High River Fire Department over the last couple of days might have been a bit concerned to see flames shooting up from the parking lot.

It was all part of a program that training officer Clayton Rutberg says was put on by the ERAC - The Emergency Response Assistant Canada Group.

Rutberg says there were lots of firefighters from all over the Foothills taking part.

"So the ERAC was doing a flammable liquid and gas training course here at the fire hall for the last couple of days," said Rutberg. "So we were letting them use our facility and participating in the training here, to help develop our skills."

Rutberg says they are always training and usually once or twice a year ERAC offers a large course that members can go to.

"We just got lucky enough that they needed somewhere to be hosted and they thought of us."

"There were lots of different groups from the Foothills, High River and various emergency groups including the hazmat groups that respond to a lot of these different calls so it was pretty good."
