A phrase many of us have come to embrace over the last few years, not only on Remembrance Day, but at all times when meeting a Veteran or serving military member is "Thank you for Your Service."

It means a lot to Veterans, including Okotoks Patrick Nichol, who served with the Royal Canadian Navy as a Leading Seaman for almost 10 years in the 1970's and 1980's.

A few of Patrick Nichols mementos from his time in the Royal Canadian Navy.

"I'm humbled when people say that to me. I constantly tell people that I am a veteran, I wasn't a combat veteran, but to my mind people who wear the uniform are veterans none the less. When somebody says "Thank you for Your Service" I feel glad that somebody feels the need to express that gratitude, because I remember when people just didn't think about it."

Nichol, like many other Veterans will be spending this Remembrance Day at the Military Museums and the Naval Museum at CFB Tecumseh in Calgary educating the public and spending time with other Veterans.
