The Calgary Stampede may be the greatest outdoor show on earth, but it can't do what it does with out a lot of volunteers.

Nanton photographer Lori Loree is volunteering with the agriculture committee and after taking a four year break is happy to be back.

"The Calgary Stampede treats its volunteers very well," said Loree. "And it treats its helpers so well. So the people I have gotten to know through volunteering is probably the best thing for me."

Loree says it is the best committee she has ever been on.

She adds there are volunteer position for everybody.

"I really believe that the Calgary Stampede has such a variety of committees and opportunities for people to volunteer. Whether you are from a rural background or a western background, or you are a city person that has never stepped foot on a farm, there is a fit for everybody here to volunteer."

And while the event is ending on July 16, planning is already underway for next year.

"The Stampede has thousands of volunteers and and to have any sort of organization in the world have that many people want to step up and help out with nothing in return with nothing in return other than just to enjoy the 10 days and enjoy there work that is a phenomenal thing."

She adds they treat their volunteers very well.
