Add Vulcan County to the growing list of regions declaring local states of emergency because of overland flooding.

In a release, the County says they feel there's an imminent hazard to land, property and infrastructure.

They've directed municipal staff to undertake whatever actions are necessary to protect private and public property, with a particular emphasis on protecting residential homes.

The County is also urging landowners to not make it worse by pumping or excavating unnecessarily.

They say the local state of emergency will stay in effect until the flooding subsides.

In the meantime, the emergency alert for the M.D. of Willow Creek has been cancelled.
