A local company is again jumping on board with a community project in High River.

Branch Manager of the Western Financial Group office in High River, Linda Holmes says the company's owner, Wawanesa has stepped up.

"Wawanesa is the owner of Western Financial Group, and they have made the decision to make a capital donation to support one of our local projects so we are pleased to be able to give $10,000 to High River Kinettes Water Tower Playground Project," Holmes says. "I think the Kinettes put together a great proposal and plan for the playground project and honestly I think that really does help and they (Wawanesa) also saw the need and want to invest in High River. Western Financial Group's head office is here and this has sort of been the hub of the company."

Holmes says Western Financial Group has its own foundation called Western Communities Foundation which has put about $200,000 into High River since 2013.

She says they're pleased to support the playground project.

"The Kinettes are bringing that playground back to life, making a green space, making sure that the playground equipment is safe for kids, they're going to have an art piece to it that will be really inviting for people to go and spend time in the park and probably the biggest thing is that the playground will be inclusive for all residents and all abilities," she says.

It's expected once they raise the necessary cash they'll break ground on the project next year.
