Students in grade four at Wesmount School hosted their Plant and Gardening Expo yesterday afternoon.

They shared information about everything from how to water a plant, to how to control pests.

Isabel, from the transplanting booth, says there was plenty of information to share.

"You can learn all about roots and leaves, and there's how to plant a seed, and there's a whole lot of booths that you can learn about," said Isabel when asked to tell us what the plant and gardening expo was all about.

The purpose of the expo was to educate students and the public about urban gardening and encourage home growing and planting.

"We want to make people garden, because if you want get vegetables, you have to get them from all the way across the world," said Isabel.

"Apples come all the way from Chile, and it takes a lot of gas and oil to bring them over," Amrit added.

The expo ran from 12 to 3 p.m. and featured several booths made by students with different themes about plants, gardening, transplanting and pest control.
