Wild Rose party leader Brian Jean made a stop in High River Friday April 28 looking to shore up some support.

He has been travelling the province, stopping to get feedback from his supporters about the upcoming proposed merger of the Wild Rose and Progressive Conservative parties.

"I've spoken to eight thousand people plus over the last three or four months," Jean said. "I've found the movement for unity has grown stronger, and I think over the last six or eight months it has grown a lot stronger."

He said the Unity Discussion group has met seven or eight times now and an agreement between the two teams is the only way the Wild Rose Party will pass a merger, or a formation of a new party.

Jean added coming to the Foothills was an absolute treat.

"Not just to meet my friends but it is a beautiful part of the country to listen to people and understand that each part of Alberta is unique, we have a province, greatest place in the world."
