More good news on the wildfire on Chimney Rock Road south of Chain Lakes in the MD of Ranchland today as the fire is now 100 per cent contained.

The MD has rescinded the evacuation order so residents will be able to return home.

Lynn Daina, information officer for Alberta Forestry says it is very good news.

"We were able to get the wildfire contained 100 percent and that was declared just after 11 a.m. this morning," said Daina. "And then the municipality has lifted the evacuation order on the area. We are just happy to report that we are able to get it to that status today."

The fire started Wednesday when a tree fell on a power line in winds that were over 100 km.

There is still a lot of work to do.

"We still have a lot of resources out there doing mop up. One thing we are cautioning hunting is not allowed in the area at all. The evacuation order although it has been lifted it is for the locals only in that particular area only."

They had 84 firefighters on the ground, and 12 people managing the fire with seven dozers, three excavators a skidder and six helicopters on it.

They were able to GPS the fire on Thursday and it measures 1536 hectors.
