The MLA for Highwood says the Canadian Taxpayers Federation's call for teachers to take a ten percent wage rollback is an interesting idea.

Wayne Anderson, of the Wildrose party, says what the government really needs to do is get a handle on all of its finances.

"As most Albertans know teachers in Alberta are the highest paid in western Canada for sure, and they've  (the CTF) have asked them to take a rollback but we've been saying all along you (the government) should put in a control mechanism in place, two cents on the dollar, I means let's start small," Anderson says.

Anderson says he's very concerned about what shape the carbon tax will take.

"You can't tax yourself into prosperity," he says. "They've got to start realizing that they've got to pull back on things like taxes and another thing they have to do is promote the pipeline, Energy East, this current Premier and her staff, they're not out fighting for Albertans to sell our products, which is crude oil, to the rest of our own country."

He says this is the worst time to bring in an extra burden for taxpayers to shoulder.
