Work is nearing an end at the Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks - and the good news is they are ahead of schedule.

Superintendent John Bailey says it will be done early in the new year, which is amazing consider the size of the project.

"I believe the original schedule was for May or June of 2018 and our contractor is telling us it will be ahead of that," said Bailey. "That's really great news."

They used a phased approach to the project because they needed to keep using the school.

"We sectioned off parts of the school because we needed the building for students. It has been disruptive certainly but I would say the staff and students at that school have responded very well."

Bailey added in the end the results will be worth all the disruption.

"The work that has been done looks spectacular."
