The favorite in home security lately is the WiFi camera.

High River Canadian Tire owner Ryan Jago says it's user friendly and effective.

"You can simply put it in your house and connect to your current WiFi system. You'll be able to access it by your computer or phone whether you're at work or on holiday, you can see into your house at any time."

He says no matter where you are in the world, if you can access the Internet you can see what's going on at home.

Jago says for about $125 you can get a camera in your house and have it up and running in about 10 minutes.

He says more people are looking for ways to protect their homes.

"There's been a spike in anti-theft devices whether it be cameras, bars for windows or alarm monitoring systems."

He says the cost depends on the level of sophistication and the quantity of cameras you use.

He says the quality of the cameras today don't compare to the old days.

"Picture quality has changed dramatically in the last five years. Today it comes with [HD] and 1080P right out of the box with very clear facial recognition capabilities, which is a big step in the right direction for a do-it-yourself camera.

Jago says there are no contracts, fees or third party monitoring to worry about when you install the system.
