Alberta's Office of the Child and Youth Advocate has released their recommendations to help the province's sexually diverse young people.

it's part of a comprehensive report aimed at providing, guidance and services for at risk youth in the LGBTQ community.

Youth Advocate Del Graff says the biggest obstacle faced by kids in the sexually diverse community is one of who they can trust, and who they can't.

"Youth are constantly assessing who are the safe people, both adults and peers in their lives. When they do not feel safe, it has a significant impact on their lives."

The report points out sexually diverse youth run much higher risks for homelessness, suicide, mental illness, addictions and violence.
