Changes to Employment Standards for Farms and Ranches
Changes to Employment Standards under Bill 17 are coming into effect January 1, 2018 for farms and ranches.
They will apply to operations with waged, non-family employees.
Alberta Labour has put together a series of free webinars to help farmers and ranchers, starting December 1 at 12:00pm.

Simmental Breed Celebrating 50 Years in Canada
The Simmental breed is celebrating it's 50th anniversary in Canada.
The breed was originally imported in 1967 from Switzerland, France and Germany, and now over 1.4 million Simmental cattle have been registered in Canada.
New Report Shows the Benefits of Expanding Alberta's Irrigation System
The Alberta Land Institute released a new report highlighting the economic benefits of expanding Alberta's irrigation system.
Dr. Evan Davies at the University of Alberta, was a part of the 4 year research project, and says where they developed a new system model called, CropSD.
The model generates things like water demand to grow six different crops that are widely grown in Alberta, the effect of irrigation management options, and the effect of irrigation infrastructure.

Restored Market Access for Canadian Pork
The Federal Government announced on Wednesday it has successfully restored market access for Canadian pork exports to Argentina, effective immediately.
The announcement builds on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to Argentina last year.
This restored access will provide the pork industry with an estimated export value of up to $16 million annually.
