Canada Secures Access In Key ASEAN Markets

The Government of Canada has announced new market access for live cattle exports to the Philippines, as well as sheep and goat genetics exports to Indonesia and the Philippines.

According to the Canadian Livestock Genetics Association, the export market of live cattle to the Philippines is valued at about $8 million, and exports of sheep and goat genetics to Indonesia and the Philippines add up to $100,000 annually.

Over $39,000 Raised for Ronald McDonald House at Livestock Expo

It was the second annual Alberta Livestock Expo in Lethbridge last week where they raised over $39,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

This year's show featured a pork quality competition where the top three hog carcasses were chosen from the 23 Hutterite colonies who entered.

The top three carcasses were auctioned and the money was donated to the charity.

Team Alberta Draws Attention to Unharvested Acres

Team Alberta reported over $3 billion worth of crops still haven't been harvested.

The team led by the province's crop commissions is alerting Alberta Agriculture and Forestry officials to ensure government agencies prepare to respond promptly to the unharvested acre claims and consider all options to help farmers deal with a difficult harvest.

Alberta Ag and Forestry's latest crop report showed just under half of the crops in Alberta have been harvested as of last Tuesday.
