Organizers say this year's Farm Forum Event went remarkably well.

The three-day farming conference wrapped up in Calgary at the Telus Convention Centre on Thursday, December 6, which saw just under 600 people in attendance.

Show Director, Rob O'Connor, says farmers really appreciate the strong line up of speakers and the variety of topics.

"There's some topics that can be implemented right now and then there's also some of that forecasting and looking ahead to see where we're going to be. That gives the farmers the opportunity to maybe do some long term planning too."

O'Connor's says, it's important to teach producers about new innovations if we're going to feed 9.5 million people by 2050.

"To do that we have to be able to be more efficient, understand our soil better, understand our genetics in the plants better, so that we can produce that food, grow those calories that will help feed the growing population."

He says, it's amazing to see how agriculture has become a leading industry in technological advancements.

"Twenty, thirty years ago, I don't think that was the impression agriculture had, but now with autonomous technology coming, GPS driven, sensor driven type of electronic equipment and digital data collection, agriculture is where the innovation is right now out of all the industries."

O'Connors says, they were happy to host the event in Calgary and are already looking forward to next year's event.
