After the passage of Bill C-49 earlier this week, CN Rail announced they will buying 1000 new grain hopper cars.

Earlier this month, the rail company stated it would consider buying these new cars if Bill C-49 was passed without amendments.

The new cars will be acquired over the next two years to replace aging equipment in their fleet.

These new grain cars have a capacity of roughly 5,400 cubic feet, which can hold 10 per cent more grain than their older cars.

CN Rail also purchased 200 new locomotives recently, with the first 60 coming online in June.
