The North American Seed Fair is coming up quickly as part of Ag Expo in Lethbridge.

Ryan Mercer from Mercer Seeds is the Chairman of the Fair and he says it's certainly been around quite a while.

"It's exciting to have a show that's over a century old and I think one of the last, if not the last seed fairs in North America, featuring all different types of cereal grains, oilseeds, pulses and forages as well," Mercer says. "We've got good supporters that have been supporting us for years and another thing that we're seeing more and more is youth entering the seed fair so the junior classes are very popular and we always encourage the youth to enter."

Mercer says they'll have all the seed on display as well as seed art in conjunction with Alberta 4-H.

He says seeds are graded on quality, aesthetics and lab analysis showing how they'd perform out in the field.

Ag Expo and the North American Seed Fair run March 1 - 3 in Lethbridge.
