It's been a successful year for the Okotoks Oilers Hockey Association.

With multiple teams from different divisions claiming championship titles  and on top of that the winnings from Kraft Hockeyville, this season has been nothing short of triumphant.

One of the many success stories of this year is how four different atom teams brought home banners this season.

Atom 1 Green team, Atom 2 and Atom 4 all claimed a league championship banner, and the girls atom team got the title of Provincial champions, putting a cherry on top of the divisions winnings.

Atom Director of Okotoks Hockey Association Roy Bowlby says the kids, parents and coaches all worked hard to get these results.

"They started in September and go until the end of March. And it's alot of work  by the volunteer. From the head coaches to the assistant coaches to the managers. They travel all over Alberta, they put alot of miles on the kids, spend a lot of time on the ice throughout the year playing different tournaments, " he says. "They have practices to commit to, a lot of them do dryland training. It's a big commitment for the kids and the parents as well."

But it wasn't just the Atom division that cleaned up, the whole association was prosperous.

"We had the three atom teams but we also had a great showing. We had two peewee teams that brought home championships, a midget team that brought home a championship, our female peewees and also another atom girls team brought home a provincial banner this year," Bowlby says. "They did really well the association, all the kids, we have a large association 1300 memebers but they really did, really well in their respective divisions."

Bowlby says Okotoks truly is a hockey town and the work everyone put in this season was incredible.
