It's a new name and a new application.

Northback Holdings has filed a trio of applications with the Alberta Energy Regulator related to a project at Grassy Mountain.

Northback was formerly known as Benga Mining and had projects in that area rejected two years ago.

The company is looking for permission to extract coal from Grassy Mountain which is just north of Blairmore in the Crowsnest Pass.

The application seeks permission to start the work on October 15.

The regulatory body says it's under review with a deadline of October 6 to file Statements of Concern.
