High River's mayor-elect got a look at his new office Wednesday.

Out-going mayor Emile Blokland and Craig Snodgrass met for a ceremonial handing over of the keys.

Snodgrass says there's lots of work to do, "Immediate for myself is to establish some of the relationships that I need to obviously, the first one was with Emile yesterday just going through and getting the organizational meeting set up for Monday and all the councillors this week, to make sure they know which committees are available and where the best fit is for High River."

"The other thing that makes this a busy year for myself because of the situation, is all the provincial relationships that I have to have," Snodgrass says, "Rick Fraser and I talked at length this morning,  had a great conversation with minister Doug Griffiths and I've been playing phone tag with premier Alison Redford."

He says communication is key and he's not about to give bad information just so people will stay in the community. Snodgrass says "This is their live, this is all our lives and we have to make High River healthy."

Emile Blokland will remain, he was re-elected as a councillor.
