Depending on what happens over the last four months, construction activity in High River is going to be off last year's totals.

As of the end of August, the Town has issued a total of 175 building permits worth just over $21 million.

For all of last year 245 permits were handed out worth $43.7 million.

Permit values for Renovations are down slightly from last year while there's been a big jump in Institutional permits from just $11,000 last year to $3.9 million so far this year.

Permits for Recreation facilities are also up from about $86,000 last year to $1.2 million this year.

As of the end of August, the Town has issued 27 permits for Single Family homes and four for Multi-Family projects.

That's similar to 2020 at the height of the pandemic when 28 Single Family home building permits were issued and nine Multi-Family permits.

In total last year there was a bit of a rebound with 55 permits issued for Single Family homes and 51 for Multi-Family units.
