A charge has been laid in a murder investigation dating back to 2018.

On the morning of November 26th, 2018, 41-year-old Dennis Lewis of Chestermere was shot in his home following an altercation, dying in hospital soon after.

The RCMP Southern Alberta Major Crimes Unit was assisted by Chestermere RCMP, the Calgary Forensic Identification Section, the RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services and the Calgary Police Service.

On Tuesday, March 23rd, Chestermere RCMP announced that 37-year-old Richard Michael Sikora of Calgary has been charged with second-degree murder.

Sikora was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on April 8th.

RCMP are still looking to identify subjects, however.

Surveillance footage shows multiple individuals fleeing the scene, and Chestermere RCMP has released the full video in hopes of identifying them.

Footage from the area also shows a stolen burgundy 2015 Ford Edge Sport that was believed to be connected to the incident, which was later located in northeast Calgary.

RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact their local police department or Crime Stoppers.
