The Town of Claresholm has clarified how they'll be proceeding through the election.

Their mayor, Chelsae Petrovic, is running as the UCP candidate for Livingstone-Macleod in the upcoming provincial election.

According to the Town, during this time she'll be on unpaid leave from March 28 until May 30.

The deputy mayor will be filling in during that time.

At the moment, that's Brad Schlossberger.

If Petrovic is elected MLA, she'll have to resign as mayor and a by-election will be held.
