Claresholm RCMP investigating suspicious package - area closed

RCMP are investigating a suspicious package in Claresholm.

The RCMP have closed down the corner area of 49th Avenue and 1st Street West and are asking the public to avoid the area until further notice.

The Bank of Montreal, which is on the corner, is also closed until further notice. It's just across the street from IGA.

The area has been shut down by the RCMP since approximately 3:00 p.m. today.

A Canine unit was brought in and RCMP have an Explosive Disposal unit on hand and are assessing the situation.
