High Rriver's mayor and councillors are getting a raise. At least the mayor and council after the election next October.
The mayor goes from a base salary of 25-thousand-600 dollars to 36-thousand.
They'll get an additional 85-hundred dollars for travel expences and general allowance.
Councillors go from just under 13-thousand a year to 18-thousand with another 42-hundred dollars for travel and general allowance.
Councillor Cyril Abbott says he understands the political implications of making it effective sooner.
He says if the job is worth it in November it's worth it sooner.
Councillor Frank Van Donzel suggested the mayor and council all get the same amount since they do basically the same job.
