Courthouses across the provinces have resumed in-person trials.

The Provincial Court of Alberta has removed restrictions on out-of-custody trials, preliminary hearings and other hearings put in place last month because of the fast spreading Omicron virus.

Chief Judge Derek Redman says the court has continued to hear all in-custody cases as well as urgent matters and the use of virtual courtrooms was expanded to handle cases that could be dealt with remotely.

Courthouses in Okotoks and Turner Valley, along with others in Alberta, will still have to keep social distancing measures in place, limited capacity, extra cleaning, there'll be Plexiglas barriers and mandatory facemasks as per provincial court mandate.
