Honouring the history and tradition of the West will be on fine display this weekend.

Cowboy poets are riding into High River for the annual Trails End gathering.

Local cowboy poet and singer-songwriter Lewis Martin Pederson is back again this year.

"Cowboy poetry is the documentation of an occupation, and the Alberta Cowboy Poetry Association is a great organization to belong to and be proud of. This is our 35th year."

Pederson says it's more than just people reading poetry.

"And it's at the Full Gospel Church and I hired Dallas again this year because he runs some pretty good sound over there. It's not just cowboy poetry, we have musicians and some of the best in Alberta."

It runs this Friday and Saturday with two different performances from noon till 5 p.m. and then in the evening from 7 till 10 p.m.

Cowboy church wraps it up on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

A weekend pass costs $70.00, day shows cost $15.00, and evening shows are $25.00.

The Saturday night cowboy stew supper is back too and that'll cost you $25.00.
