Dawgs dismantle Bombers to stay undefeated

The Okotoks Dawgs have once again hit double digits in getting runners across home plate and stay undefeated after beating the Brooks Bombers 10-2 tonight (May 31).

This was the second meeting between the Bombers and the Dawgs. Okotoks has outscored Brooks 21-2 in their first two meeting of the season. When you include the other two games the Dawgs have played they have outscored their opponents 48-9.

Troy Benko from Little Town, Colorado would get credit for the win after pitching first, going a full four innings and punching out five Bombers in that time span.

The first inning would go scoreless, the Dawgs however got three runs in the second after Benito Bonilla got a solo home run to start the top of the inning. Landon Kauffman got a home run of his own a few batters later and collected an RBI with Jason Arriola on first base.

Kadyn Williams snagged a run of his own when Eric Hartman hit a single at the top of the third and gave the Dawgs a 4-0 lead.

The fourth saw no scoring and the fifth inning would have the Bombers and Dawgs trading a run each with the score 5-1 in Okotoks favour. That was the first time the Bombers had earned a run against the Dawgs so far this season.

In the seventh inning, the Dawgs would add three more runs, Jacob Wrubleski would get the first run when he smacked the ball out of the park for a solo home run, and the Dawgs' third home run of the game. Kauffman added two more RBIs in the seventh and finished with 4 RBIs on the night.

The Bombers answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough to get past the Dawgs, especially when they added another two runs in the eighth. 

Okotoks will be back home tomorrow to play the Bombers in their second game of back-to-back games against Brooks. Game time is set for 7:05 at Seaman Stadium. The Dawgs will play their third game in a row on Sunday when they visit Sylvan Lake to take on the Gulls.
