The Okotoks Dawgs left no doubt on the field today (June 30), dominating the Swift Current 57s 14-2.

Okotoks kept fans in their seats last night winning in a 12-inning performance but, wrapped things up early in today's game against the 57s at Seaman Stadium.

Regina's own Gavin Wuschke took the mound to start the game and would go a full five innings getting the credit for the win. Wuschke has gone unbeaten when on the mound going 4-0 in his starts.

Both teams were figuring each other out in their first meeting during the 2024 WCBL season as the first two innings would go scoreless.

The 57s opened the scoring at the top of the third inning but, the Dawgs answered right back with a run of their own. 

Shortstop Brendan Luther who has been solid throughout the season tied the game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the third with a solo home run.

Wuschke and the Dawgs blanked Swift Current at the top of the fourth but added four runs of their own taking their first lead of the game with a score of 5-1.

With bases loaded Jason Arriola hit a single to score Spencer Sullivan in for the first run of the inning. Luther stepped up next and hit a double which has been doing on the regular scoring Arriola, Lou Anderson, and Aidan Rose in for runs.

The 57s answered with their last run of the afternoon in the top of the fifth but Dawgs didn't let up, scoring three in the bottom of the fifth.

Nash Crowell the Dawgs started with a double to left field and Barry Eiseman got on base with a walk. Anderson then hit a single scoring Crowell in for a run. Rose was up next and added a single of his own scoring Eiseman in for a run. 

Anderson got the last run in for the Dawgs in the inning thanks to a single from Arriola.

Okotoks wasn't done yet, scoring another four runs in the bottom of the sixth. With bases loaded, Eiseman did what he does best in waiting for his pitch. He earned a walk scoring Kadyn Williams in for the first run of the inning.

Sullivan would pull his best Eiseman impression and follow suit, earning a walk and scoring Logan Grant in for a run. Crowell scored a run on a fielder's choice shortly after.

Arriola who couldn't be stopped today hit a double to right field and got Eiseman across home plate for the last run of the sixth inning.

The Dawgs got their last two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Arriola who stayed dominant at bat hit his second single of the game, getting Anderson across home plate for the first of two runs in the inning. Rose scored shortly after for the final run and a final of 14-2.

Okotoks will host Swift Current on Canada Day tomorrow when they hit Seaman Stadium for a 7:05 pm start time.
