With second place in the WMBL's Alberta Division locked-up, the Okotoks Dawgs (27-17) close out their regular season with a four-game road trip, starting with a tilt against the Edmonton Prospects (20-25) Tuesday night.

With the regular season winding down, Manager Brett Thomas says he's comfortable with where his team's at heading into the post-season.

"I don't know what the numbers are, but we've won probably 25 of our last 35 games," he says. "It's just a matter of continuing to compete every day. It's a little bit tougher, all four being day-trips, so it makes it tougher on the guys in terms of that, but we're just excited about getting at it Tuesday."

The Dawgs' found success during their six-game home-stand, winning four straight in between losses to Swift Current July 21 and Medicine Hat on Sunday.

Thomas says ending the season with a road-trip isn't actually a bad thing for his squad.

"Sometimes we can get comfortable at home, and this week we've gotten comfortable and enjoyed our time here," he says. "But, the reality is, to win a championship, you have to be able to win on the road. So, it'll be nice to go to all three of our divisional opponent's parks and play in there and prepare us for what's about to come."

With only four games to go, the Dawgs sit five-and-a-half games back of Lethbridge, who've already clinched first place in the division.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks are four games back of the Dawgs for second place and can only force a tie, with the Dawgs owning the tie-breaker.

Thomas says with second place all but a certainty, it's a good time for the team to work out the final kinks.

He says with players like Kellan Marruffo (two home-runs in his last three games) and Bruce Yari (6-9 at bat with four RBIs in his last four games) finding their form late in the year, they're feeling confident heading into the post season.

"That's the best part of being a coach, is those moments where you really start to see guys deal with adversity and get over the hump, and then become better for it." he says. "Those two guys are perfect examples, they've struggled, and we've put them in and out of the line-up, trying to match them up in situations. Now, they've put themselves in situations where they're getting the job done, and they're going to get some innings."

After battling the Prospects Tuesday night, the Dawgs head to Medicine Hat Wednesday night, and close out the season with a pair against the Bulls in Lethbridge Thursday and Friday night.
