Perhaps it's the journalist side of me or just my love for the community (or maybe both) that gets me excited about an election.  I love seeing people who are passionate about where they live. I want to applaud all who threw their name in the ring.  I took the opportunity to teach my little guy about voting as he came with me to vote yesterday and helped me place by ballot in the machine.

66% voter turnout makes me proud.  After doing some coverage on the air with the team last night - I popped over to do a couple visits with both Mayoral Candiates.  First visit was with Jamie Kinghorn.  He did a great job of being a councillor for the past 3 years in High River.  I think he was at every community event I attended over that term and we became friends.  Thanks to Jamie for being an integral part of bringing the Hot Air Balloon Championships to High River this past September.  Be sure to watch the Rick Mercer Report tonight on CBC!

Next stop was to congratulate the new Mayor - Craig Snodgrass.

And High River's new Mayor joined me on the morning show today to chit-chat and have some fun.  We brought up some of the fun from Saturday night when there was a big deal made about Dr. Vyse's top button on his shirt always being open....so we "Vyse'd" is up and delievered the weather to our community.

Congrats again to Cathy Couey, Bruce Masterman, Emile Blockland, Don Moore, Peter Loran and Dragan Brankovich our new council.  And thanks to all who ran and showed their passion for our amazing town!
