A tornado was seen near Okotoks on Monday.

Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings were issued at around 2:40 p.m., with Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC) meteorologists tracking a string of thunderstorms near Calgary.

A storm did hit the town just before 3 p.m., bringing heavy rain and hail with it.

ECCC has confirmed a brief tornado was seen south of Okotoks.

They heard multiple reports of tornado sightings, though luckily no damage has been reported.

High River fared much better, though some damage to trees can be seen in town.

The tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF0 (weak by tornado classification standards.)

The strongest winds from the storm were reported in Tide Lake (111 km/h), Sheerness, (11 km/h), and Cereal (109 km/h).

Hail measuring 35 millimetres was measured in Calgary and Okotoks.

ECCC is seeking pictures of the tornado and reports of any damage caused.
