The Balloon Glow, weather pending, is coming up tonight in High River.

It's part of the 10th anniversary of the Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival.

Last year, it was estimated the town doubled its population with over 15,000 people in attendance.

Once again, this year it's taking place just north of the Centre Street bridge from 5 to 9 p.m.

They're bringing back the DJ and Centre Street will be lined with food trucks.

Volunteers will be posted to keep everyone safe until the balloons start flaring at about 7 p.m.

Balloon Glow schedule of events

You're advised to not bring any dogs or pets with you as the area can become very congested.

They're also bringing in more food trucks to reduce lineups with 21 food vendors on site this year.

Parking is always a concern and once again this year they have park-and-ride shuttles and other options:

  • Park & Ride Shuttles
    • $20 per vehicle (CASH ONLY)
    • South pick-up: beside Calgary Co-op on 12 Ave SW
    • North pick-up: NW entrance to rodeo grounds off 498 Ave / Hwy 543
    • You can ride the shuttle between your car and Wallaceville site as often as you like. NOTE: There is no guarantee on how fast the round-trip shuttle trip will take due to varying vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the area.
  • Park & Walk
    • $20 per vehicle (CASH ONLY)
    • North-end: across from Tim Horton's
  • Public Parking
    • Downtown area: street and public parking
    • Residential streets
