The Federal Government has released details of a new Canadian Farm Familes Options Program.

 

The initiative is aimed at those who have not benefitted from other farm programming.

Agriculture Minister Chuck Strahl says it'll provide income support to lower income farm families.

"farm families who have a total net income of less than 25 thousand dollars for families and 15 thousand for individuals, Farmers must have a gross farming revune of at least 50 thousand dollars    and must have filed farm income in 2005 and been farming in 2006."

Applicants must also commit to completing a farm business assessment, or a skills training upgrade within 2 years of the application.
