The Town of High River will open a registration centre for residents whose properties received damage during the recent flood in May.

   Affected property owners whose homes, businesses or organizations suffered uninsurable damage
from overland flooding and groundwater seepage that resulted from heavy rainfall between May 25 -
29, 2011 can apply for compensation. The provincial government has committed $25 million in
financial aid to assist property owners in southern Alberta recover from damages that occurred
during the flood.

   The Centre is open to anyone from the MD of Foothills, Okotoks or High River who were affected. The
applicants will be required to provide government issued picture identification such as a driver’s
licence or passport. Officials are also requesting, if possible, that applicants bring a letter from their
insurance companies confirming that losses are uninsurable and a list of damaged items.

   “We are very pleased with the government’s quick response in helping property owners get back on
their feet,” said Mayor Emile Blokland. “This will certainly assist residents to repair the damages to
their properties and recover from the flood that much more quickly.”

   The Centre will be located at the Memorial Centre at 128 5th Ave. W, from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

   For those who are not able to make it to the centre on Tuesday, another one will be available in
Okotoks on Monday, July 25 or forms will be available at the town office after July 12 . For more
