The High River Flyers kick off the 2019/2020 Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League season Friday, September 20, when they head to Okotoks to face the Bisons.

The Flyers were winless in the pre-season, but Coach Colten Hayes isn't too worried about that.

He says they may surprise the Bisons.

"I think it's going to be a good game. We had some success against them early last season but you know it's going to be a hard game because they have a lot of good talent there. But, we're ready for the challenge."

Hayes says the Flyers always get "up" for playing the Bisons, and he says he thinks the Bisons enjoy the rivalry too.

"I think both teams walk away with a win at the end of the day because the rivalry itself means it's going to be a hard fought battle and guys are going to be ready to go."

They hit the ice at 8 p.m. at the Murray Arena in Okotoks.

The Flyers host the Rocky Rams Saturday, September 21, in their home opener at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.
