Last March, Turner Valley and Okotoks RCMP were called to investigate human remains found near Highway 522 and 128 St. northeast of Okotoks.

It was identified to be 37-year-old Tara Miller from Calgary.

Because of the nature of the death, the RCMP Serious Crimes Unit teamed up with the Calgary Police Service to help locate who was responsible.

On January 22, 2024, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit released an update, stating they arrested four individuals in connection to the death of Tara Miller on January 18th.

30-year-old Gurpreet Gill from Calgary has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder – Section 235 CC
  • Aggravated Assault – Section 268 CC
  • Using a firearm in an indictable offence – Section 85(1) CC

Gill will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on January 22, 2024.

 

30-year-old Greg Schuster from Calgary has been charged with:

  • Manslaughter – Section 236 CC
  • Aggravated Assault – Section 268 CC
  • Accessory after the fact – Section 240 CC

Schuster will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice on February 1, 2024.

 

24-year-old Jared Burke from Wheatland County has been charged with:

  • Manslaughter – Section 236 CC
  • Aggravated Assault – Section 268 CC
  • Using a firearm in an indictable offence – Section 85(1) CC

Burke will appear in court on January 25, 2024.

 

25-year-old Shyana Popplestone from Calgary was charged with:

  • Manslaughter – Section 236 CC

Popplestone will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on January 26, 2024.
