Explored Frank Lake out by Blackie over the weekend with my youngest son.

What a great place to ease the mind and get away.  The only sounds you'll hear are the amazing birds that love to call it home and the odd conversation with another nature lover.  Sounds like good company right?

An incredible variety of species nest and stop down on their migratory routes up and down our fair continent there and the peace is palbable.

And you know what, you just might run into some fascinating people.  Ran into a gentleman taking photos from the bird blind that knew more about the dozens of bird species than I'll even knew were right in our backyard.  We'll have him as a guest on the Afternoon Drive show one of these days soon.  His passion for birds needs to be shared.

Not only that but we came within a few feet of a muskrat sunning on the bank chewing on some reeds just kickin' back enjoying a sunny Saturday afternoon like the rest of us.

If you're ever looking for a mental break and some peace and quiet then quite frankly Frank Lake is the place to be.

And with the Wellness Challenge going on it's another reminder that mental health is also important and spending some quality time with yourself or family and friends is incredibly important too.

Cheers - Kevin
