The 16th annual Okotoks Charity Check Stop was held on Dec 14.

During the check stop, Okotoks RCMP, firefighters, municipal enforcement, EMS, and Victim Services were out collecting donations from passersby.

It ran from 2-5 p.m., and people were encouraged to come down and donate money, non-perishable food, and toys.

This year, a total of $8020.96 was collected at the Check Stop, with an additional $950 in cheques made out to the Okotoks Food Bank.

On top of the money, 839 pounds of food was collected and donated to the food bank.

Donations collected at this year's event were given to the Rowan House Society and the Okotoks Food Bank.
